That mileage goal…

With 2006 behind us, I feel strangely compelled to report on my mileage goal, rather than letting it slip quietly in to history, remembered only by me, and maybe by Google.

I know I didn’t make the goal, and I’m certain I rode at least 1,615 miles, but how close I got to 2,000 I can’t tell for sure, because from the 22nd of May through the 10th of June, nearly three weeks when I was doing at least two group rides a week, so say 60+ miles per week, I was without my GPS bike computer. I also managed to lose my mileage logging spreadsheet when I moved from using Spiffy to using my new iMac. I’ll be conservative and spot myself 50 miles for each of those three weeks, but that still only gets me to 1,765.

I did a bit better than in 2005, but I know I can do better, even with New Baby on the way. I think 2,000 miles is an achievable goal for me; it’s only 39 miles per week, or one good training ride of less than 3 hours.
