Lizzie has a new favorite toy, I tell you, The Tick would be proud, it is SPOON! I don’t know how this happened, but mealtimes have gotten much more entertaining, going something like this:
- Spoon is loaded with soft food item, such as crushed apples and plums
- Spoon of soft food item is, through guile and distraction, placed inside Lizzie’s mouth
- Some portion of the soft food item, ranging from 10% to 100%, winds up on her face or clothes
- She grabs hold of the spoon and enthusiastically plays with it an amazingly long time
- Spoon is re-possessed by parental spoon-reloading unit
- Lizzie fusses stridently until she has again gained possession of spoon
- lather, rinse, repeat
Today Andrea had plans to go out with a friend of hers. Lizzie had some cereal shortly before they headed out, and as they left the house, Lizzie retained very possessive control of her spoon; in fact Andrea says she played with it until they got to the bakery that was their destination today! I’ve rarely seen a single toy entertain her for that long, and how can a father not be proud when his daughter’s got such good taste in cartoons?
